Human stupidity and evil seem wholly unbounded by scope or time. Unsupported and obviously false accusations still masquerade as intelligent arguments. People still ban speech they dislike as though the words themselves are a problem and always so regardless of context rather than embracing free speech and identifying and addressing the root causes of any perceived problems. Short-sighted executives continue their assault on the American dream, lowering the quality of life for all residents and discouraging native citizens from pursuing technology educations and careers by bringing in less expensive foreign workers and outsourcing work to inexpensive workers overseas, which lowers wages overall while increasing population and thus living expenses. And then we have George W. Bush and his persistent and perverse affection for torture, defending it with the same tired rhetoric about the big scary terrorists. After thousands of years of large-scale civilization, socialization, and education, this is as far as we've come?
